About Us

The Elross Story…

Elross Caravans was established in 1983 as a caravan repair and refurbishment business. Owners Ean and Carolyn Hill soon realised that Australia’s serious adventurers needed a superior 4 x 4 off-road caravan that could withstand Australia’s tough outback conditions.

They set about creating a purpose-built off road caravan and began work on a prototype that could be used recreationally as well as within the industrial sector. In 1992, Ean and Carolyn Hill unveiled Australia’s first ‘true’ off road caravan.

In 1995, the Hills’ son David joined the company.  He was the first person in Australia to graduate from TAFE with a Certificate in Recreational Vehicle Manufacturing and Repairing.

Twelve years later in 2007, Ean and Carolyn decided to handover the reigns to David.  They announced their retirement, packed their 29ft off-road fifth-wheeler, and headed for the bush.

David immediately embarked on a mission to rebuild and expand the business – and today, Elross is an industry leader in custom built, high quality, heavy duty off-road, 4 x 4 caravans, fifth wheelers, industrial caravans and motor homes.
